The lovely Natasha!

My first illustration on request! Rather quickly done, but a little drawing of the lovely Miss Kahn :)

Graphite, pen and ink, collage and poster paint.

Much love.

Annabel Lee (Part Two)

The media used are watercolour, graphite and mechanical pencil. It was a pleasure to spend so much time ruminating over this poem, one of the greats in my opinion, and in using materials which I am not all too accustomed to. The poem to me has a deep feeling of melacholy and repetition, which I have tried to reflect in the images; the greys and blues create the sad and sombre atmosphere, and the repeated use of the sea in the images echoes the relentless timbre of the poem and of the narrator's despair. They are of course far from perfect, but it was terribly cathartic doing them; I do love the sea ever so .

Annabel Lee (Part One)

To keep myself entertained this summer, I've been doing carious little projects. One of the larger of these has been illustrating the timeless Poe poem "Annabel Lee". Should you wish to aquaint yourself with the poem, it is here - http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/annabel-lee/.

The first lot of images....

nights at the circus.

for the last uni project, i illustrated the angela carter novel 'nights at the circus'.
these are a few of the images i had come up with at the end of it all.
research into the lifestyles of the turn of the century rich fed into this hugely, especially how they used the lower and working classes to meet their needs.
hope you liked 'em.
